Autistic teen reported missing by police found safe

Wellington police have found an autistic 19-year-old, who was reported missing earlier this evening, "safe and sound in Paraparaumu".

Sameer Gordon was said to have a fascination with trains and police earlier said he may have boarded a train to Paraparumu or Wellington.

He was last seen at North City shopping centre in Porirua about 5pm

Police appealed to the public to help find him.

They asked for anyone with information to call 111.

"We would appreciate all public assistance to find this young man and return him to his family."

Police thanked the community for looking out for Gordon.
