The Auckland University of Technology says it has been forced to increase tuition fees 13 per cent for post-graduate programmes, which had been rendered "barely viable" by Government cutbacks.
Vice-Chancellor Derek McCormack said the $500 fee rise for post-graduate courses, which takes 2006 tuition fees for students to $4293, was necessary for the survival of post-graduate courses.
