A 66-year-old Australian woman has been rescued while tramping in the Ella Range in the Nelson Lakes National Park.
The woman was in a party of seven when she fell while high in the mountains and was unable to walk out.
The group activated a beacon and was found by the Summit Rescue Helicopter around 11am.
The woman's leg injuries were treated by St John intensive care paramedics before being airlifted to Nelson Hospital.
