Australian mega-yacht maker closes

Australian Marine and Design Construction, the Newcastle manufacturer of luxury mega-yachts, has closed its doors.

A voluntary liquidator been called in, the equivalent of the American Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Fifteen of the 70 staff are being retained to complete the refit of a 15m motor yacht.
