PERTH - A New Zealand man who escaped from an immigration detention centre in Perth on Wednesday has been recaptured.
Dylan Murphy Kasupene, 28, escaped the detention facility by kicking out his cell window bars, Perth-based newspaper WA Today reported.
Police said a security guard saw Kasupene jump out of the window before chasing him, but was unable to catch him.
A Department of Immigration and Citizenship spokesman said Kasupene was found at a private residence in the Perth suburb of Bentley at 6.15pm (10.15pm NZT) on Thursday night.
He was taken back into custody without a struggle and was awaiting deportation to New Zealand, the spokesman said.
