Peter Jackson will take time out from filming King Kong and suing Hollywood studio New Line Cinema to speak about his The Lord of the Rings movies in Sydney next week.
Jackson will speak for two hours at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney on March 12. The Lord of the Rings Motion Picture Trilogy - The Exhibition, developed with Te Papa, has been on show at the museum for several months, attracting more than 128,000 visitors.
Tickets for An Evening with Peter Jackson are A$65 ($70).
Jackson is suing New Line for a bigger share of the profits from The Fellowship of the Ring.
The first of The Lord of the Rings films made about $1.187 billion at the box office, as well as hundreds of millions of dollars from sales of DVDs, videos, computer games and merchandise.
According to British newspaper the Times, if Jackson wins he will also be entitled to more profits from the second and third Rings films.
The Times estimated that the total amount of money made to date from all three films - including box office, DVD, computer games and merchandising - was $8 billion.
Jackson had enlisted high-flying Hollywood lawyer Stanton "Larry" Stein, who has a reputation for representing artists who believe they have been short-changed by big studios.
