Australians are taking the Olympic motto "Stronger, higher, faster" to heart, or maybe to bed.
After romping among the gold medals at the Games, the Aussies are romping into the bedroom. They are said to have sex more often than New Zealanders, lose their virginity earlier and have more sexual partners.
The Durex 2000 Global Sex Survey shows that Australians have sex 98 times a year compared with New Zealanders' 86.
Globally, people have sex 96 times a year. Respondents in the United States have the most sex (132 times). The Russians (122) and French (121) also take time to be close.
The Japanese average (37) is the lowest.
This year's survey by condom makers Durex of 18,000 people in 27 countries included New Zealand for the first time.
Five hundred New Zealanders aged between 16 and 55 were selected randomly to "kiss and tell" about their bedroom habits.
New Zealanders have more partners (9.1) than the global average (8.2), but the Australians average 10.4 and the Americans 11.8.
The world's legendary lovers, the French, top the list of sexual partners, doubling the global average with 16.7.
New Zealanders are slightly slow starters when it comes to the mating game. The average age they have sex for the first time is 17.6, two months later than the Australians and more than a year later than the Americans. The Chinese wait longer - their average is 21.9 years.
Survey respondents chose from a list to nominate their sexiest woman and man.
New Zealanders chose American singer Jennifer Lopez as their sex goddess, with Russian tennis babe Anna Kournikova a close second.
The man who most inspired their fantasies was Hollywood heart-throb Brad Pitt.
