KEY POINTS:
Strewth mate, the Advertising Standards Authority reckons it's a fair go to make fun of the Aussies.
Some whinger complained to the authority that a Mitre 10 television ad "was racist towards Australians".
The ad showed two boys in a sandpit planning a weekend construction job, when one asks a third boy - wearing an Australian rugby jersey - for "a hand on Saturday".
When the response in an Australian accent is, "mate, you're dreamin", the two boys shrug, with one of them saying: "Aussies. No surprise there".
The authority chairman rejected the complaint.
It incorporated "a well established satirical theme which played on the spirit of competition between Australia and New Zealand", she ruled.
While the ad may have offended the complainant it would not have caused "serious or widespread offence", she said.
