Auckland Zoo's dragon gets a makeover

A piece of playground equipment which resides at Auckland Zoo is turning 50.

The dragon will undergo a birthday makeover and will be off display from August 31 until its unveiling and birthday celebration on October 3.

The zoo is encouraging people to send in historic photos of the 15 metre icon to mark its half century.

All photos will be displayed and a prize draw will be held.
