The Auckland Writers Festival is hosting one of the biggest literary stars in the world.
Norway's Karl Ove Knausgaard will come to Auckland to speak about his six novels in an autobiographical series called My Struggle.
The festival begins on May 1 with Jeff Kinney, the author of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, presenting a talk that will be of interest to children and parents.
The books have sold more than 150 million copies world-wide and have been turned into several feature films to its name.
An African Nobel Prize contender Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o, a human rights champion as well as a writer, will talk about his books that have been translated into over 30 languages.
