Auckland-based writer Leanne Radojkovich is the latest recipient of the Lilian Ida Smith Award, the New Zealand Society of Authors said today.
The award, worth $3000, is given every two years to help a writer over 35 with a project in non-fiction, fiction, poetry or drama.
Hamilton-born Radojkovich will use the grant towards a short story collection, Happiness and Other Stories, about everyday New Zealanders.
Selection panel convenor Chris Else said Radojkovich stood out for her crisp style and subtle characterisation.
