Auckland woman admits killing partner

A woman who stabbed her partner to death at an east Auckland property in December has pleaded guilty.

Xiaoyan Hu, 31, was initially charged with assault but the charge was upgraded to manslaughter.

She pleaded guilty at the High Court at Auckland this morning.

Her lawyer Barry Hart said his client disagreed with some of the aspect's of the Crown's summary of facts.

Hu's partner Jiacui Xiao, 45, was found critically injured by a stab wound to his neck when police arrived at a house on Willoughby Ave, Howick, on December 8. He died while being taken to hospital.

Hu pleaded guilty through a Mandarin interpreter during a brief appearance this morning.

Justice Pamela Andrews called for a home detention report but told Hu that that would not necessarily be the end sentence.

She will be sentenced next month.

Detective Inspector Ian McGill, of Otara police, said in January and it appeared the two had been involved in a domestic dispute.

Hu's mother was at the house at the time and had been spoken to by police, he said.
