Winston Peters' first challenge in government could be a threat to his SuperGold card in Auckland.
Card-carrying senior citizens in the city have been getting free bus rides all day after 9am.
But the Government-funded scheme doesn't put up money for travel during the afternoon peak - Auckland Council pays for it.
Auckland Transport has now asked the council to consider charging for afternoon travel, as a part of its 10-year budget in June next year.
Councillor Christine Fletcher says the incoming government, which Winston Peters is a part of, might want to start funding the afternoon peak.
