Commuters in Auckland faced major disruptions this morning with Western Line trains delayed and cancelled due to a power outage.
Trains reportedly stopped in their tracks, with one left stranded over a level crossing and blocking motorists for more than 15 minutes.
Auckland Transport’s (AT) website says people should expect delays and cancellations due to an “overhead powerline fault”.
It says scheduled buses are accepting Hop cards and paper rail tickets.
An AT spokesman said Western Line trains were running again after power was restored at 8.03am.
One disgruntled passenger said their train was stopped on the St Georges Rd crossing in Avondale for 20 minutes.
By the time he got to work, he said many of his colleagues who would usually take the train had arrived by Uber or taxicab.
