Auckland commuters on the Western line faced 30-minute delays this morning when a train broke down and had to be pushed down the tracks.
Commuter Stephen Tsang said a 7.24am train leaving Sturges Rd for the city broke down between Sunnyvale and Glen Eden.
Another train had eventually come to push the broken train to Newmarket, where passengers waited for the next train to the city, Mr Tsang said.
He was still waiting at Newmarket at 9am.
Auckland Regional Transport Authority spokeswoman Sharon Hunter said services had returned to normal by 9.30am.
She did not know how many people had been affected, but it was a "standard fault" and caused delays of about half an hour, Ms Hunter said.
