A police vehicle was one of two involved in a crash that injured three people in the West Auckland suburb of Massey this morning, police say.
A police officer, a social worker and a member of the public were taken to North Shore Hospital with moderate injuries after the collisionon Red Hills Rd at 10.44am, police said in a media release this afternoon.
“The police vehicle was travelling at road speed at the time the incident occurred. The member of the public’s vehicle has collided with the police vehicle, and as a result both vehicles have sustained significant damage.”
The social worker was travelling in the police vehicle, they said.
The crash blocked a section of Red Hills Rd and traffic management was being put in place between Sunnyvale and Nixon roads.
“Motorists are advised to expect delays, or if possible, to avoid the area. The Serious Crash Unit will examine the scene, and an investigation will be commenced.
“As standard procedure police will be notifying the Independent Police Conduct Authority of the incident.”
