Auckland traffic flow steady but building, reports of fog

Fog is making life difficult for Auckland commuters as traffic starts to build on the motorway network.

At 7.30am the NZ Transport Agency reported heavy patches of traffic on citybound lanes on the Northern, Southern and Northwestern motorways.

There were also reports of fog causing poor visibility on the Northwestern Motorway, with traffic crawling along.

A breakdown on the Southwestern Motorway between Dominion Rd and Queenstown Rd was causing some delays for southbound traffic.

Outside the motorway network, Te Atatu Rd had reopened between Tirimoana Rd and Divich Ave after it was closed due to a fatal crash yesterday.

South of Auckland State Highway 1 had also reopened just south of Hampton Downs after it was closed following a truck roll yesterday.

Due to a large new slip between Ruamahunga and Tapu the SH25 Thames Coast Rd was again closed.

Northern Motorway

Northbound: Free flowing.

Citybound: Moderate after Esmonde Rd.

Southern Motorway

Southbound: Free flowing.

Citybound: Heavy between Drury and Takanini. Moderate to heavy in patches from Princes St to Greenlane.

Northwestern Motorway

Westbound: Slow after Lincoln Rd.

Citybound: Heavy between Great North Rd and the city.

Waterview Tunnel Southbound Free flowing.

Southwestern Motorway

Northbound: Free flowing.

Southbound: Heavy between Dominion Rd and Queenstown Rd due to breakdown. The breakdown is clear of lanes.

Waterview Tunnel Northbound Free flowing.
