Auckland student hurt on South Island tramp

An Auckland student has been injured while on a school tramp in the Nelson Lakes region.

The 17-year-old girl was flown to hospital by the Summit Rescue Helicopter from West Sabine Hut in the St Arnaud range late this morning, after falling and injuring her knee.

She received emergency treatment at the scene by a St John Advanced Paramedic before being taken to Nelson Hospital.
