Police have re-opened Customs St in Auckland after it was cordoned off due to a bomb scare near the US Consulate.
Police closed off a section of the busy downtown street mid-afternoon and evacuated the Citigroup building, where the US Consulate is housed, after reports of a suspicious substance being found.
The police bomb squad and the Fire Service were called. The street was re-opened about 6pm.
He said police came quickly and did not uncover anything of concern.
He thanked the police for their assistance in resolving the situation.
The Embassy is declining to say if the US consulate had been a target but confirmed the investigation uncovered nothing of concern.
