Two people have been taken to Auckland City Hospital with serious injuries after a stabbing at Unitec's Mt Albert campus.
Police were at the scene and speaking to witnesses.
The incident happened just before 2.30pm and two people were taken to hospital by ambulance. One is said to be in a critical condition.
Police inspector Earle McIntosh told NZPA the attacker had fled the scene, but there was no risk to staff or students.
"The scene is secure and we are still making enquiries and speaking to witnesses," Mr McIntosh said.
Two ambulances went to the campus. One man in his twenties suffered critical injuries to his chest and another person received serious back injuries, a St John Ambulance spokesperson said.
Unitec posted an item on its website which describes a "serious incident" at the south end of the campus this afternoon.
The campus was hosting a music festival today, Sounds in the Sun, which started at midday and featured bands including The Black Seeds and Katchafire.
There were a lot of people on the campus enjoying the festival, including non-students, a Unitec spokesman said.
The incident happened in a carpark on the fringes of the Mt Albert campus away from the festival, he added.
