Staying in town for the festive break? There are plenty of glamorous rooftop options in Auckland on the last eve of the decade.
The HI-SO rooftop bar at SO/Auckland is our first pick as it has one of the best views in the city to welcome in the New Year. A night of sophisticated revelry, partying with some of the best in Auckland's music scene is promised with live performances from Auckland dynamic electronic-pop duo Clicks, live percussion with Mav, and DJ sets from Murray Sweetpants, Dick Johnson, Hamish (Sax) + Rangi.
VIPs can party all night by arriving with exclusive access to HI-SO between 8pm and 10pm. On offer is an oyster bar, food stations and canapes as well as a two-hour drinks package beverages when the roof opens to the public at 10pm.
Next up Peter Urlich will top off a stellar year with his Nice'n'Urlich party at Ostro & Seven with Bevan Keys at Britomart.
Urlich says people don't want to risk a fizzer. The crowd is adult, sophisticated and friendly with the venue being the best in town with double balconies, and Seven's magical rooftop from which to watch the fireworks. Urlich won't name names but says a good smattering of celebrities and rich listers will be there to party till early in the morning.
