KEY POINTS:
Police and firefighters are investigating several suspicious fires in Auckland which have destroyed a family business and two other properties since Friday.
A fire at Sargam Indian Foods on Bruce McLaren Rd which wrecked a family business is one of four suspicious fires being investigated by Henderson police.
The blaze was reported by a passer-by about 2.30am on Saturday and has left 10 employees out of work.
Constable Chris Goldsmith of Henderson police said another fire, at 1.40am on Saturday, had destroyed an empty home which had been occupied by vagrants on Bradnor Meadows Drive, Swanson. Mr Goldsmith said it appeared the fires were separate incidents "at this stage".
However, two other fires - one which was deliberately lit in a changing room in Postie Plus in the Lynn Mall Shopping Centre and another outside near Denny's restaurant - on Friday afternoon appeared to be linked.
Another suspicious fire in Nikau Rd, Otahuhu, burned a two-bedroom home at 3.15am yesterday.
The owner of the home, who asked not to be named, said the home was "absolutely destroyed".
Fire safety officers are investigating.
