KEY POINTS:
Auckland police are investigating a second suspected kidnapping in the past three days, after a Korean man claimed he was kept against his will at an inner-city hotel.
Auckland city police spokeswoman Noreen Hegarty said the latest incident happened at the Rainbow Hotel on Nelson St this afternoon.
Police received an emergency call from staff at the Korean Consulate shortly after 1.45pm today saying a Korean man had been kidnapped and was being held at the hotel.
When police arrived they went to a room where a man was suffering some head injuries.
Four other people were in the room, she said.
Ms Hegarty said the man, whose injuries were not life threatening, was taken to hospital.
The other four were at Auckland Central Police Station where police were waiting for Korean interpreters to assist with interviews, she said.
It was not known whether the injured man was taken to the hotel against his will or if he was already at the hotel when detained against his will, she said.
One room at the hotel had been secured as a crime scene.
The incident comes days after a man alleged he was kidnapped at gunpoint from his Whangaparaoa home, north of Auckland, over an employment dispute.
He was held at an Auckland house for 11 hours before he escaped by jumping off a balcony breaking both ankles.
