Auckland and Northland are set for a drenching tonight and tomorrow morning.
Metservice is warning residents in the hills near Orewa that they could be in for some heavy downpours as the rain makes its way across the North Island today and tomorrow.
Meanwhile a slip has forced the closure of the Akatarawa Hill Road 5km south of the entrance to Waikanae.
Inspector Steve Darroch said it is not clear when the road will be open.
