Construction of a long-delayed $170 million 4km motorway extension at Mt Roskill in Auckland is to start in August, Auckland Chamber of Commerce chief executive Michael Barnett says.
The confirmed start date followed a meeting by the Auckland Business Forum with the Deputy Prime Minister Michael Cullen and Transport Minister Pete Hodgson, he said today.
The project is part of a western corridor ring route eventually planned to link the southern motorway at Manukau City with the northwestern motorway at Waitakere City.
The confirmed start date for the vital project gave Auckland something to celebrate, Mr Barnett said.
