A 19-year-old Auckland man was remanded in custody today after being charged over an incident in which an Asian family was held hostage in their suburban Howick home last week.
The man faces 11 charges, including kidnapping, injuring with intent, aggravated robbery and using a firearm in any manner whatsover against a policeman on duty.
He is due to reappear in Manukau District Court on Tuesday.
His name, the names of the six complainants and the police summary of facts were suppressed.
Police had sought interim suppression orders on the grounds that their inquiries into the September 10 incident were continuing and further arrests were expected.
