A man accused of kidnapping two men from an Auckland house in December had his bail application refused today.
Ross Romana, 33, appeared in Auckland District Court today facing four charges - kidnapping, intent to injure, assault and participating in an organised criminal group. He was remanded in custody to reappear tomorrow for another bail hearing.
Romana is one of six men who face similar charges.
He was due to appear with the other five men today for a post-committal conference, which was adjourned until May 18.
Joe Tie, 36, faces four charges - kidnapping, two counts of breach of release conditions, and participation in an organised criminal group.
Besi Lolohea Faapoi, 45, Ofisa Andrew Kopelani, 29, Robert Logo, 31, and Adrian Andrew Ng Wun face various charges including kidnap, assault with intent to injure and participating in an organised criminal group.
All six were arrested after armed police found two men with minor injuries in a house in Bond Street, Grey Lynn, on December 17.
The maximum penalty for kidnapping is 14 years' prison.
