About 1000 young hopefuls lined up for their chance to become household names this morning as auditions for the second series of New Zealand Idol started.
The first Auckland auditions attracted people from as far away as Napier, and about 14 spent the night sleeping outside the door of the Telstra Clear Pacific Centre in Manukau to be first in line.
Another 1000 auditions will be held tomorrow, and those who receive the judge's nod have call-back auditions on Wednesday and Thursday.
The judges go to Christchurch next week for auditions next Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by Wellington next Friday and Saturday.
NZ Idol is expected to start on TV2 in early July.
