Design trends in the home
As the annual Auckland Home Show gets underway this week the Weekend Herald looks at some of the trends for every home DIYer or those looking to spruce up their homes.
Black is back in the kitchen
According to show organisers black is the all new go-to-colour to dress your kitchen appliances in. Gone are the days when stainless steel appliances were the rage, shiny black is now the ultimate colour to have in the kitchen. However, for those not so keen on black, luxe metallics are also on trend from coppers, to bronze, rose golds and gold.
Being bold with colour
According to Resene bold colours are back in. "Deep blue reds" (yes, really), black and near black, duck-egg blue, greyed blues and bold pops of orange and yellow are some of this year's biggest trends to rejuvenate and liven up a space. Colour-blocking and stencilling can also be combined with these to transform once blank walls into a creative piece of art that can expand from floor to ceiling.
