KEY POINTS:
Thick fog that disrupted flights in and out of Auckland this morning has lifted.
An Auckland Airport spokesperson said conditions had improved and airlines would now be working to clear a backlog of flights.
Earlier this morning, no flights were able to arrive or take off from the airport's domestic terminal.
However, international flights remained largely unaffected, with just one flight from Rarotonga being diverted to Christchurch.
The spokesperson said that the airfield at Auckland Airport had been quite clear but conditions in the surrounding airspace impacted on travel.
Passengers have been advised to contact their airline or check flight information online.
Last month passengers were disrupted for an entire day when fog blanketed the airport.
The delays affected thousands of passengers in Auckland and other centres in New Zealand as well as some overseas airports when incoming flights into New Zealand were cancelled.
