A Christchurch-bound flight from Auckland Airport has been put on hold tonight after a threat was made against it.
Auckland Airport spokesman Richard Llewellyn said the threat was received shortly after 8.30pm.
"I understand there has been some kind of threat made against a flight via a phone call, but we don't have a lot of detail," he said.
The threat was not directed to a specific airline, but officials were focusing their attention on a flight that was due to leave shortly before 9pm, he said.
"It was just made in relation to a flight heading towards Christchurch, it was very non-specific."
Police confirmed they were dealing with the incident.
