Several roads will be closed and greater access provided to pedestrians and cyclists under a draft 20-year master plan for the development of Auckland Domain released today by Auckland Council.
The road circuit around the Auckland Museum and Grandstand Rd between the grandstand and Domain Drive are among road closures included in the plan, which is open for public consultation until February 29.

Artists impressions released by the council show Grandstand Rd being replaced with a landscaped walkway and a carpark near the Wintergarden being turned into a shared space.
Auckland Domain Committee chairwoman, councillor Christine Fletcher, said plan, which also includes play spaces and new plantings, is focused on long-term stewardship, rather than radical change.
