An Auckland councillor is calling on mayor Len Brown to hold off on asking ratepayers for more money to fund the City Rail Link.
Councillor Cameron Brewer says the Auckland Council needs to first reach an agreement with the government on how the project will be implemented.
He says the City Rail Link was going to cost 2.4 billion dollars earlier in the year, but is now projected to cost 2.8 billion.
Mr Brewer says the costs are increasing, the hands are coming out for more money, and now it is time for some assurance from the government that they are committed.
Cameron Brewer says assurances must be sought from the government, before Aucklanders face another rates rise to fund the project.
