The Auckland Council aims to slash thousands from its travel budget in a bid to save money.
The announcement was made today as part of council chief executive Stephen Town new performance objectives for 2018.
One of the measures is saving $600,000 from the travel budget, a cut of about 30 per cent from $1.95m this year, to $1.34m next year.
Councillors agreed to the performance objectives at a confidential session of the Governing Body meeting yesterday.
The objectives look at financial management, cultural and performance, operational performance, service delivery and transforming customer and community experience.
