Auckland Council is bringing forward spending on the City Rail Link.
The $6.3 million previously earmarked for preparation work including land surveys, and geotechnical site reports for the 2012-2013 budget will now be spent in the current financial year.
Councillor Penny Webster said the project will see a new 3.5km underground electrified rail line allowing Britomart to become a through station, and providing up to three new stations near Aotea Centre, Karangahape Road and Newton.
