Wholesale changes have been made to Auckland City Council's management team by chief executive-in-waiting David Rankin.
Planning director Dr Jill McPherson is the only director to survive the restructuring - and she has a new role as community arts and recreation general manager.
City planning group manager John Duthie has been promoted to the new position of city development general manager.
The other general managers, all outside appointments, are Andrew McKenzie (finance), Trish Langridge (organisation performance) and Dr Stephen Rainbow (transport). Mr Rankin replaces Bryan Taylor from July.
