An Auckland church is looking for a man or woman aged over 100 to join a growing list of people who will give 15 minutes each at Labour weekend to read the entire Bible over the internet.
The Global Bible Cast is being organised by Auckland's Balmoral Baptist Church.
The first of the readers will begin reading the Bible at 8am next Friday morning at the Carey Baptist College in Penrose.
After the reading, anyone could access any part of the Bible to download and listen to.
Each readers will be asked to do 15 minutes and readers will continue 24 hours a day through Labour weekend for three or four days until they reach the end.
Organiser Tim Bulkeley said they hoped to get a person over 100 to join the list of readers.
One elderly woman who was unable to read had already volunteered to recite the 23rd Psalm.
Mr Bulkeley said they already had about 150 volunteers but needed about 400.
Mr Bulkeley said they wanted to provide daily podcasts of a chapter of the Bible each day.
"There are podcasts of the Bible but up until now they have always been read by middle-aged American males.
"This will have a Kiwi accent, an Indian accent, a South African accent because Auckland is such a multi-ethnic city," he said.
