A remembrance ceremony was held in Auckland this morning for Polish President Lech Kaczynski and 95 other people killed in a plane crash in Russia last week.
Auckland City Council hosted members of the region's Polish community at Auckland Town Hall for the ceremony.
The ceremony included a blessing by Monsignor Bernard Kiely of St Patrick's Cathedral and a brief address by Polish Consul John Roy and Auckland Mayor John Banks.
Members of Auckland City Council also attended, as well as members of the consular and diplomatic corps, Polish community and church representatives.
The plane crashed as it attempted to land in heavy fog near the Russian city of Smolensk on Saturday.
