Southbound motorists trying to get into Auckland city were reduced to a crawl after a cement mixer rolled on an inner-city road just before peak-hour traffic this evening.
The Golden Bay Cement truck was lodged at the side of Sam Wrigley St in the inner city, just off the Cook St motorway off-ramp.
The truck was eventually moved after nearly three hours.
The off-ramp, the second exit into the city south of Auckland Harbour Bridge, was closed for over an hour before reopening after 6pm.
Inspector Barry Smalley of the police northern communications centre said the truck didn't cause as many problems as might have been anticipated.
Mr Smalley said the driver of the truck had minor injuries.
