Thousands of businesses and households in suburban Auckland were without power this morning after a car ran into a power pole.
Customers lost power about 7.15am in the Three Kings area, southwest of downtown Auckland, after the car hit the power pole on Mt Eden Rd.
Vector Energy spokeswoman Phillipa White said about 2000 customers lost their power following the crash.
She said power was restored to all the affected properties just after 9am.
Ms White said people lost power a few times a year in Auckland due to cars hitting power poles. The number of people impacted depended on whether the pole was high voltage and its location in the network.
