Contractors had been working throughout the night to restore power at traffic lights and generators had been shipped to Auckland from around the country.
Sixteen major sites were currently being run on generators, and there were seven sites that currently had no power, down from over 100 last night, Mr Knackstedt said.
Four intersections had police assisting with traffic control and the other three were pedestrian crossings.
Auckland passenger rail network operator Transdev said all lines are running according to the scheduled timetable this morning with no network disruptions or delays.
There were issues with power at train stations on the Eastern Line affecting Hop payment systems, however overhead power to the trains was still fully operational.
Power remained out at Orakei, Meadowbank, Glen Innes and Sylvia Park Stations. Transdev and Auckland Transport staff had been deployed across the rail network to assist rail passengers.
Bus services were on schedule and not experiencing and delays due to power outage.
