Auckland Airport's high-tech system for landing planes in low visibility was finally repaired on Thursday after a fault developed last Saturday causing many flights to be cancelled or delayed.
The airport's category III B instrument landing system is the only one in New Zealand that enables aircraft to touch down in foggy conditions without pilot input.
More than 40 flights were affected by the bad weather last Saturday.
However, only a handful of planes were affected by the equipment breakdown as a limited number of aircraft could operate with the category III equipment.
A spokeswoman for air traffic control agency Airways said: "No more fog was expected last week, giving our engineers plenty of time to thoroughly investigate the cause of the intermittent fault and have it resolved."
