A birthday cake was baked in Auckland yesterday for Myanmar democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi - even though she will probably never get to eat it.
Ms Suu Kyi, who won the Nobel Peace Prize for her commitment to non-violent activism, turns 61 today.
Myanmar democracy activists in Auckland took the birthday cake and yellow ribbons symbolising democracy to a rally in Aotea Square yesterday.
Ms Suu Kyi has been under house arrest at her Yangon home for most of the past 16 years.
