A man who sparked a manhunt and allegedly stabbed a woman has been remanded for further psychiatric assessment.
Arana Barlow appeared in the High Court at Hamilton where he faces a charge of attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed a woman in Thames this month.
Barlow, 36, is accused of fleeing with a toddler before being found in Auckland, with the boy, later that night.
Appearing before Justice Sarah Katz on behalf of Barlow, lawyer Gavin Boot said a forensic report into his client's fitness to plead was still being finalised.
Barlow had also been transferred from Spring Hill Prison to Waikato Hospital's Henry Bennett Centre.
