The Somali refugee who was jailed for attempting to hijack a flight from Blenheim to Christchurch is now facing fresh charges.
Asha Ali Abdille was sentenced in August to nine years imprisonment for the attempted hijack.
She has since been charged with assault with intent to injure after she allegedly threw boiling water on a prison guard.
Abdille was not present in court this morning and no plea was entered but was remanded in custody until a defended hearing on November 4th in relation to the assault charge.
