The victim of a serious assault in Sumner, Christchurch on Thursday has now died in hospital, and the three people charged with the assault now face murder charges.
A person was found in a Sumner car park on the evening of March 23 with serious head injuries and was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
A 38-year-old woman, 20-year-old man, and a 16-year-old are due to reappear in court on Monday over the assault.
Police arrested the woman and the teenager on Friday. At the time the woman was charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in relation to the alleged attack. The teenager was charged with burglary and with being an accessory after the alleged assault.
Officers were conducting scene examinations at three Christchurch addresses on Friday. They wanted to speak with anyone who may have seen a gold coloured Toyota Vitz car or its occupants near Ferrymead and Sumner late on Thursday, March 23. They're particularly interested in sightings of the vehicle in the Sumner beachfront area near Clifton Tce.
