A man was stabbed and hit with a baseball bat during an apparent gang hit in the foyer of a public swimming pool in Lower Hutt yesterday afternoon.
Detective Senior Sergeant Soni Malaulau of Lower Hutt CIB said witnesses told police that a black 4WD vehicle stopped in the middle of Everest St outside the Naenae Swimming Pool around 4pm, and three or four men got out.
The men, believed to be members of the Black Power gang, entered the building, where they confronted another man in the foyer and began to assault him with a baseball bat and a knife.
The victim, a member of the Mongrel Mob gang, was reported to be in a stable condition.
