Two men charged with assault after the death of a 23-year-old man in Hastings last night will appear in court today.
The man was the victim of an alleged assault at a party in Gordon Road, Hastings, last night, Inspector Dean Clifford said.
He later collapsed and ambulance staff were unable to revive him.
Police were called to the scene about 8.20pm and began a homicide investigation.
A post mortem today would confirm how the man died, Detective Senior Sergeant Dave De Lange of Hastings police said.
Police needed more information on his injuries and whether a weapon was involved, he said.
The two arrested men would appear in Hastings District Court today.
Other witnesses were being interviewed and a scene examination would take place today.
