Ashlee Fisher is picking an all-girl NZ Idol final - and reckons the smart money should be on Rebecca Wright to take the title.
The 16-year-old Hamilton high school student was eliminated last week after a dramatic "extra sing-off" with Kali Kopae.
But the way in which Fisher exited the show has created some controversy, with claims the show was using the Idol voting system to ruthlessly cash in.
On www.idolblog.com one blogger summed up the sentiment of many viewers: "I can't see the point of it except more texts and calls to come in, making more money..."
Fisher accepted the voting system was controversial, and had even sparked debate among the contestants. However, her focus was now on returning to Fraser High School and getting back into her Year 12 studies. "It's been a good journey. It has been an amazing experience. I really felt I've grown as a performer," she said.
"Some of the judges' comments have been tough. But I learned not to take things too much to heart."
She believed Wright was the strongest of all the remaining contestants. Wright was a performer with stage presence and a strong voice, who was able to handle all genres of music.
