Baradene College will be hoping Auckland artist Mark Compton's Recession is a call to action for buyers at their annual art show.
Compton's work playfully invites collectors to purchase in hard times - "I bought this in the recession". It will be displayed alongside work by more than 100 artists this weekend at the Remuera school's annual show. An organiser said the collection was stronger than ever.
The 20th anniversary show includes work from former Baradene students who have flourished as professionals, as well as present students.
Funds raised will be used to fit out the school's new art, sciences and technology block.
The show runs until Sunday and features art priced from $60 to $8000. Tickets priced at $15 are available from the school for tonight's opening. Tomorrow and Sunday are free.
